13 Years Later, One of Telltale’s Greatest Games Is Officially Making a Comeback

Bigby is stepping back into the shadows, and Fabletown has never looked quite so hauntingly atmospheric. Telltale Games has officially announced that The Wolf Among Us Remastered will arrive on October 29, 2026, delivering a much-needed graphical overhaul to one of the studio’s crown jewels just in time for Halloween.

Originally rolled out across five gripping episodes between 2013 and 2014, The Wolf Among Us tracks Bigby Wolf—better known as the Big Bad Wolf—as he navigates a string of brutal homicides in Fabletown, a hidden New York sanctuary populated by exiled fairy-tale icons. Inspired by Bill Willingham’s celebrated Fables comic series, the title brilliantly marries gritty noir detective tropes with supernatural suspense and heavy moral choices, resulting in an unforgettable, neon-drenched odyssey.

This modernized edition bundles all five original chapters together, featuring heightened visual fidelity, dynamic lighting, smoother animations, and vastly refined character designs and environments. While the presentation has been brought up to date, Telltale has carefully preserved the signature comic-book art style that made the original a visual standout.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered Breathes New Life Into Fabletown

Perhaps the most exciting addition is the brand-new Noir Mode, which strips away the color palette to turn the entire campaign into a classic black-and-white cinematic thriller. Players can toggle seamlessly between this moody monochromatic aesthetic and the enhanced full-color visuals whenever they like, offering a fresh lens through which to explore Fabletown’s gritty underbelly.

Given the source material’s heavy reliance on dramatic chiaroscuro lighting, shadowy alleyways, curling cigarette smoke, unsavory underworld figures, and morally grey fairytale personalities, a dedicated noir filter feels like a match made in heaven (or perhaps the Pudding & Pie).

Yet, the striking visual direction is only half the battle. The game’s true triumph lies in its phenomenal ensemble, featuring the perpetually gruff yet effortlessly cool Bigby, the resourceful and pragmatic Snow White, the perpetually disgruntled Mr. Toad, and an eclectic roster of unforgettable supporting figures. Few video games can boast such a memorable cast of characters, and even fewer manage to make their interpersonal dynamics feel so strikingly authentic—a remarkable feat considering they are legendary storybook entities.

The storytelling is equally stellar. The Wolf Among Us showcases some of the sharpest writing in Telltale’s history, packed with razor-sharp dialogue, agonizing moral dilemmas, and one of the most jaw-dropping plot twists in gaming history. Thankfully, the developers have left this masterclass in narrative untouched.

Beyond the audiovisual upgrades, the remaster packs over an hour of special features, including behind-the-scenes developer commentaries, voice actor interviews, early concept art, cut scenes, and other fascinating archival finds. For devoted fans, diving into the creative origins of this dark fairy tale is an irresistible proposition.

Bigby Wolf’s Long-Awaited Sequel Is Finally on the Horizon

Naturally, this remaster serves as the ultimate refresher course for players eager to re-immerse themselves in Fabletown ahead of The Wolf Among Us 2, slated to land in 2027.

The sequel has endured a notoriously rocky production timeline, marked by Telltale’s temporary shutdown in 2018, numerous setbacks, and prolonged periods of radio silence. Thankfully, the project roared back to life earlier this year accompanied by a fresh trailer and a solidified 2027 launch window.

As outlined by sequel director Zak Garriss in recent interviews, the upcoming follow-up promises to dig even deeper into Bigby’s fractured psyche as another chilling mystery unravels across Fabletown.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered hits shelves on October 29 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with physical retail editions rolling out later in the holiday season.
