Square Enix Shuts Down Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and Erases In-Game Purchases
Square Enix has shut down the servers for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, leaving players without access to the game and their purchased items, except for statutorily mandated refunds in Taiwan.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis closed on October 6 and is now unavailable on Android, iOS, and PC. The game launched in September 2023, and arrived on PC in December of that same year, offering events from the original Final Fantasy VII alongside material from Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus.
The project used a free-to-play model featuring gacha monetization. Square Enix announced the server shutdown back in July 2026. For players in Taiwan, the company offered refunds for unused Red Crystals as required by local legislation.
Even so, Ever Crisis might get a second life in an offline format. Square Enix is preparing Final Fantasy Resonance, a standalone version of the mobile game Brave Exvius without gacha monetization. Brave Exvius servers shut down in October 2024, so a similar scenario for Ever Crisis in the future cannot be ruled out.
