Zack Cregger’s Resident Evil Adaptation Receives Record Viewer Scores

Critics and audiences have found common ground in their reviews this time.

Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil movie has won over not only critics, who gave the film 96% positive reviews, but viewers as well. At the time of this writing, the movie’s audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes stands at 92% based on more than one thousand verified ratings.

This is the highest score among live-action films in the franchise. The previous record belonged to the original 2002 Resident Evil, which received a 67% rating from viewers, while the rest of the adaptations in the series scored significantly lower.

Viewers most frequently praise the blend of bloody horror and comedy, the nonstop action, Austin Abrams’ performance, and the feeling of playing through a Capcom game. At the same time, much like critics, many note issues with the ending, which turned out weaker than the rest of the film.
