Yura Borisov to Star in ‘Laurus’ Adaptation

Academy Award nominee Yura Borisov has been tapped to lead the upcoming screen adaptation of Evgeny Vodolazkin’s acclaimed novel, “Laurus,” as reported by TASS.

The narrative centers on Arseny, a gifted medieval Russian herbalist and healer who embarks on a profound, soul-searching pilgrimage following the tragic loss of his wife.

Before production commences in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the creative team will hold a series of public script readings, which will later be integrated into the final film. While the identity of the director remains undisclosed, it was previously noted that Emir Kusturica had expressed interest in helming the project. The film is being produced by Sergey Katyshev, known for his work on “The Aviator.”

Borisov’s busy schedule continues this week with the theatrical release of the sci-fi blockbuster “Anora.” Looking ahead, he is set to star alongside Ivan Yankovsky in October’s “Motor Battle,” with the winter release of Luca Guadagnino’s Hollywood biopic “After the Hunt” also on his horizon.
