Xbox Reportedly Preparing Big Surprise for Gamescom 2026, Insiders Say
Xbox is preparing an announcement that will surprise fans, with insiders reporting that the reveal is set for Gamescom 2026.
Industry insider NateTheHate reported that Microsoft is working on a new game based on one of its owned franchises. Microsoft will publish the project, while an external developer outside Xbox Game Studios handles development. The insider ruled out Banjo-Kazooie, The Elder Scrolls VI, Wolfenstein 3, Marvel’s Blade, OD, Fallout remasters, and a StarCraft shooter.

Windows Central journalist Jez Corden also stated that the project involves an unexpected sequel whose reveal will come as a major surprise. He noted that he is continuing to gather additional details.
Furthermore, I am working on a solid rumor that Xbox is also set to announce one or more games at Gamescom. Microsoft typically saves full reveals for the Xbox Showcase in June, but this year it seems they have lined up some genuine announcements for Gamescom as well. I am not sure whether they will appear during the Xbox broadcast or on Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, but if what I have heard proves true, we could be in for a huge surprise (likely a very unexpected sequel) (not Banjo, lol).
