Unreal Engine 5 has opened up many new possibilities for developers.
Recently, CDPR met with investors to discuss the third-quarter results for the 2025 fiscal year. A representative from BNP Paribas asked:
Do you expect the next games in The Witcher trilogy to follow a shorter and more predictable development cycle?
The discussion moderator replied:
In a way, yes — I do believe the next two titles should arrive on a tighter timeline, because as we’ve stated before our plan hasn’t changed: to release the entire trilogy within six years. That means we aim to shorten the gaps between Witcher 4 and 5, between 5 and 6, and so on.
He also remarked that CDPR take pride in the work they’ve done with the UE5 engine:
We’ve been using Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 for almost five years and we’re very pleased with what we’ve achieved. I think some of you may have already seen examples in the tech demo we presented at Unreal Fest a few months ago. We’ve discussed this before, but I’m happy to repeat it: we appreciate how the engine has evolved thanks to Epic’s team, and how we’re learning to harness it for a large-scale open-world game, which is precisely how The Witcher 4 was envisioned.
