What are Speed Skills in Forza Horizon 6?

In Forza Horizon 6, executing speed skills is all about pushing your vehicle to the limit and keeping the throttle pinned. However, the game doesn’t always explicitly state the velocity required to trigger these accolades, which can leave players guessing. This ambiguity also extends to higher-tier feats, such as Great Speed Skills.

Speed skills often appear as specific objectives within the Festival Playlist. For instance, the “Welcome to Japan” series featured a summer challenge tasking players with earning six speed skills while behind the wheel of a 2022 Toyota GR86.

If you are struggling to rack up these high-velocity accolades, this guide breaks down everything you need to know to master them.

At their core, speed skills reward you for sheer velocity. To secure a standard speed skill, you must maintain a pace of at least 125 mph. Challenges that demand Great Speed Skills—such as the “Floor It!” objective in the Japan series—raise the bar to 150 mph. Keep in mind that not every car in your garage is capable of hitting these targets, so choosing the right vehicle is essential.

The most efficient way to farm these skills is to head for the highway—specifically, the long, open stretches in the Shimanoyama region—and maintain full throttle. If you are tackling a “Horizon Play!” challenge, note that you can often trigger these requirements during the pre-race warm-up session. Simply hitting the 125 or 150 mph threshold for a brief moment is usually enough to register the feat.

Looking ahead, higher tiers such as Awesome and Ultimate speed skills require maintaining speeds of 175 mph and 200 mph, respectively. For these advanced tiers, we strongly suggest utilizing a dedicated drag-spec car, as they are engineered to reach those elite velocities with minimal effort.
