2K Warns Players As One of the Best Basketball Simulators Is Removed From Steam and Other Stores
Players have time left to build out their NBA 2K25 collections and earn achievements.
Publisher 2K releases new NBA 2K basketball simulators every year. These new entries are sold for several years before being pulled from sale and having their servers shut down, which strips them of their online features.
A notice recently appeared in the NBA 2K25 community hub on Steam. The developers reminded players that the game will soon be removed from digital storefronts and that its servers will be shut down at the end of this year:
NBA 2K25 will no longer be supported after December 31, 2026. This game will no longer be available for purchase starting October 30, 2026. If you already own NBA 2K25, you will still be able to redownload it and play offline modes.
Starting January 1, 2027, fans of NBA 2K25 will no longer be able to play multiplayer matches or access any online modes: “MyCAREER and MyTEAM modes will become unavailable, and the earning of Virtual Currency (VC) will be discontinued.”
Support listed the modes that will remain available in NBA 2K25 after the servers are shut down: Play Now, MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM, 2KU/Learn 2K, MyWNBA, and The W.
NBA 2K27 was released earlier this year. Like NBA 2K25, the new entry in the franchise is available on PC via Steam as well as on consoles.
