Weta Workshop Opens Pre-Orders for Faramir Statue from The Lord of the Rings
Weta Workshop has opened pre-orders for a limited 1/6 scale statue of Faramir from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, scheduled for release in 2027. The collectible depicts the Captain of Gondor riding a galloping horse and leading an attack on the orc-occupied city of Osgiliath.
Pre-orders are open for $999, with a limited production run of 860 units.

The collectible shows the Captain of Gondor atop a galloping horse in his recognizable armor, leading the doomed charge on Osgiliath. With his sword pointed forward and his mouth open in a battle cry, the sculpt captures the exact moment Faramir leads his men into combat.

To accurately convey the strength and grace of a galloping horse, sculptor Gary Hunt studied equine musculature and movement in depth. Veterinary references, anatomical atlases, and video footage of moving horses formed the basis for every aspect of the sculpture. This attention to anatomy is evident throughout the piece. Muscles tense and stretch beneath the horse’s skin to convey both speed and weight, while flowing strands of mane and tail give the sculpture a fluid grace.
The relationship between the horse and rider is crafted with equal care. Faramir leans forward in the saddle, rising with the movement beneath him, while his chainmail and greaves react naturally to the momentum of the charge.

Recreating Faramir’s likeness presented a distinct challenge. The statuette captures both actor David Wenham’s features and the tension of command on the battlefield, preserving the moment his charge begins.
Scans of the original armor served as a foundation, but every detail still required extensive refinement and adjustment to look convincing in such a dynamic pose.

Made from polystone, metal, and polyurethane, the statue measures 45.7 cm in height, 60 cm in width, and 28 cm in depth, with a weight of 8.3 kg. It is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2027.
