Pop sensation KATSEYE recently swapped the recording studio for the classroom, discovering that their young fans had plenty of lessons to teach them in return.

The rising global girl group made a special appearance on the digital series Celebrity Substitute just days ahead of the release of their highly anticipated EP, WILD, scheduled for Friday, August 14. In an exclusive preview provided to Billboard, bandmates Yoonchae, Lara, Daniela, and Sophia—who recently announced an upcoming hiatus—visited PS17 in Queens, New York, to a warm reception from an eager room of elementary school students. Rather than delivering a traditional lecture, however, the artists found themselves on the receiving end of a crash course in modern youth culture and internet slang.

The session kicked off when a student named Grayson, a proud “EYEKON,” posed a fundamental question about the group’s creative process: “How long does it take to make a song?”

In response, Yoonchae explained that the members rehearse diligently every single day, typically logging around six hours of practice.

“Six or seven!” Yoonchae and Daniela playfully corrected, sparking an enthusiastic wave of the now-viral “6-7” hand gesture throughout the classroom.

The interaction quickly shifted into a puzzling exploration of Gen Alpha lexicon. When Lara asked the students to define terms like “skibidi” and “sigma,” the conversation evolved into a broader discussion surrounding the concept of digital “brain rot.”

“Do you even know what brain rot is?” asked a student named Mila. “It’s basically like… insults or mean things you say to somebody.”

Eager to expand her vocabulary, Lara followed up by asking, “How can I phrase that as a compliment?”

“You can’t,” Grayson replied bluntly, leaving no room for debate.

“Oh, so there’s no positive version,” Yoonchae noted, prompting Daniela to laugh and concede, “Got it! We definitely won’t be using that one.”
