Warner Bros. and New Line have moved forward with development on a prequel to The Conjuring franchise, according to media reports.
The feature will be directed by first‑time filmmaker Rodrige Huart. The screenplay is being written by the authors of the previous Conjuring films, Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Story details remain tightly guarded, and no release date has been announced.
The latest Conjuring entry, subtitled “The Last Rite,” opened in September and has amassed $487 million at the worldwide box office. Alongside the main series, the franchise has spawned spin‑offs focused on the doll Annabelle and the demon nun Valak. Meanwhile, HBO Max is developing a television series based on the franchise.
