Vampire Survivors condensed the gamble-and-reward core of roguelikes into an exhilarating, addictive loop, becoming a standout indie hit. That success spawned many crossovers — from Contra and SaGa to recent additions like Balatro and Castlevania. Now that template has inspired its first fully original entry: Warhammer Survivors.

True to its name, Warhammer Survivors adopts the bite-sized, survival-focused gameplay of Vampire Survivors but drops it into the grimdark universes of Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. Expect waves of foes, simplified pixel visuals, and the joyous randomness of loot drops that can turn a run into a triumph. The project was built by Auroch Digital — known for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun — and runs on the engine crafted by Poncle, the studio behind the original Vampire Survivors.

The game blends content from both 40K and Age of Sigmar, offering multiple arenas, unique weapons, and roster variety. Announced characters include Malum Caedo, Cadian Shock Trooper Kozlowski, Space Marine Intercessor Brother Luca, Neave Blacktalon, Gotrek Gurnisson, and Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher Sharynn Azurwrath. Each hero features distinct abilities and a signature starter weapon, such as the Boltgun, the Astartes Chainsword, or Whirlwind Axes.

Warhammer Survivors is slated for release in 2026. You can add it to your Steam wishlist here.
