Vote: Which Rock Band Is the Greatest of All Time?

Billboard has released its definitive ranking of the greatest rock bands in history. Our editorial team weighed each group’s musical achievements and cultural influence, but naturally, not every selection will reflect every fan’s view.
Part of that divide comes from how elastic the label “rock” really is. Some listeners favor the theatrical bravado and vocal power of acts like Queen or The Rolling Stones, while others gravitate toward the trippy, atmospheric landscapes of Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead. For many, rock only qualifies when it carries the hard-edged intensity of Metallica or Black Sabbath; others prefer the raw, angsty textures of Nirvana and Pearl Jam or the polished, cross-generational appeal of The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac.
Still, it’s precisely rock’s breadth that has kept it vital. At various points in history it was condemned as rebellious or even dangerous, a soundtrack for youth culture and upheaval. Today it stands as one of the most influential musical traditions — and much of that legacy is embodied by the bands appearing on Billboard‘s list.
Which band do you consider the greatest rock group of all time? Cast your vote in the poll below — we want to hear who you think deserves the top spot.
