Vincent D’Onofrio Denies Rumors of Kingpin’s Return After “Daredevil: Born Again” Finale

Vincent D’Onofrio says his comments at Comic Con were read too boldly, and that he did not confirm any return to Marvel projects.

In late September, it became known that the third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be the last. Marvel has not yet said anything about what comes next for the characters, so fans continue to wonder whether familiar heroes will appear in other projects.

The latest round of discussion started with D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk. At Comic Con in London, the actor was asked how he felt about the show ending. He answered that the story of their characters will only be over when other actors are found for those roles.

Some media outlets took his words as confirmation that D’Onofrio and his co-stars will return in other Marvel projects. The actor quickly rejected that interpretation on X:

“I didn’t say anything of the kind. At Comic Con in London, we were asked how we feel about everything coming to an end. I answered: it isn’t over until other actors are cast as our characters. And that hasn’t happened yet. So until then, it isn’t over, regardless of whether we take part in another project or not. That’s what was said. Please don’t twist my words for views on your platform.”

In other words, D’Onofrio did not announce the Kingpin’s return. He only explained why he does not yet consider the character’s story finished. The third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again is expected on Disney+ in 2027.
