Report: Sucker Punch, Developer of Ghost of Yōtei, Hit by Layoffs

Sucker Punch Productions, the studio responsible for Ghost of Yōtei, Ghost of Tsushima, Infamous, and the Sly Cooper series, has reportedly gone through a round of layoffs, according to Aftermath. The publication says 26 positions were cut as the developer gets ready for its next project.
Aftermath spoke with a former Sucker Punch employee who verified the figure, and it also obtained an internal company email that announced the reductions.
One passage of the message reads: “After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we’ve decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result.” The studio goes on to promise support for those affected as they move on, and says it will release further details next week. Sucker Punch has not yet addressed the layoffs publicly.
The news arrives only a few weeks after the launch of the Complete Edition of Ghost of Yōtei, which first released in 2025 to both critical praise and strong sales. That package arrived alongside two major pieces of DLC. The first is a story expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara. The second is a roguelike mode, Most Wanted, which brings back Jin Sakai, the hero of Ghost of Tsushima, as a playable character.
