Viewers are losing interest in “House of the Dragon”

Warner Bros. Discovery has disclosed the initial performance metrics for the third season of “House of the Dragon.” According to official data, the premiere episode reached 21.5 million viewers globally across HBO and Max platforms within the first three days of its release.

While this remains a robust figure, the debut represents a slight decline compared to the second season’s launch. A year ago, the premiere episode garnered 23.4 million viewers over the same timeframe, marking an approximate 8% dip in viewership. This downward trend is not entirely unexpected, as a comparable contraction was observed during the transition between the first and second seasons.

Interestingly, interest in the second season surged significantly leading up to the new premiere, with weekly viewership nearly tripling. This spike suggests a combination of dedicated fans revisiting previous chapters and a wave of new audiences catching up on the saga before diving into the latest installment.

The third season features an eight-episode run. New episodes will premiere weekly on Sundays, with the season finale scheduled for August 9.
