Update 1.61: Improved Material System

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our incredible #BestCommunityEver! With the forthcoming Update 1.61, our enhanced material rendering system is expanding to include three additional trucks. Here is an overview of what you can expect.

We initially introduced this upgraded material framework in update 1.60, premiering it on the DAF NGD and MAN TG3 TGX in Euro Truck Simulator 2, as well as the Mack Anthem and Western Star 49X in American Truck Simulator. Moving forward, the next release will bring this visual enhancement to the International LT and International LoneStar in ATS, alongside the iconic Volvo FH Series 6 in ETS2.

This upgraded system delivers a substantial leap in graphical fidelity and lighting accuracy across cabin interiors. By refining how diverse surfaces react to direct and ambient light, dashboards and cockpits gain richer depth, sharper legibility, and elevated realism. Subtle tactile differences—such as the soft sheen of leather, the weave of upholstery, smooth plastics, and metallic trims—are now distinctly discernible, even in low-light driving conditions.

Our commitment remains to progressively integrate this visual fidelity upgrade across our broader fleet over time. For a deeper technical perspective on the development workflow and implementation, head over to our dedicated Under the Hood blog post, featuring behind-the-scenes insights directly from our development team.

We cannot wait for you to experience these enriched interiors behind the wheel. Until next time, keep on trucking!
