Universal Pictures has officially secured the distribution rights to the third feature film from Curry Barker, the director behind the hit “Obsession.” The deal was reportedly valued in the eight-figure range.
The project will be a collaborative production involving Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Specific plot details, the official title, cast members, and release date remain under wraps. Barker is set to write and produce the upcoming film.
Barker’s sophomore effort, “Everything Except Ghosts,” is scheduled for a 2027 release through Focus Features. Production on the film has already wrapped. Set within the same cinematic universe as “Obsession,” the narrative follows two con artists who pose as paranormal investigators, only to find themselves contending with genuine supernatural entities. The cast features Barker himself, alongside Aaron Paul and Bryce Dallas Howard.
“Obsession” first premiered at film festivals in 2025 before hitting theaters in May. The movie became a breakout box-office sensation, grossing several hundred times its modest budget of under $1 million.
