Travis Kelce Discusses Taylor Swift’s Football Knowledge

Travis Kelce praised Taylor Swift and her grasp of football during a bonus episode of New Heights posted Friday, Sept. 18, featuring special guest Tom Cruise.

Cruise attended the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos earlier that week and sat next to Swift in a box suite at Arrowhead Stadium. During the show co-hosted by Jason Kelce, Cruise recalled how the pop star told him about her first date with Travis. Swift previously revealed that she asked her husband during an early conversation what it was like to face his older brother during the Chiefs versus Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl of 2023, not realizing both Kelces played offense and never competed on the field at the same time.

When Cruise brought up the conversation, Travis smiled and remembered how the 14-time Grammy winner used to think the players were boxing each other on the field.

The Grotesquerie star praised how quickly Swift learned the sport, noting she now spots penalties like defensive holding and encroachment. “She’s on it now,” Travis said. “She fully engulfed in it.”

Jason Kelce also recalled attending a Chiefs game with Swift earlier in her relationship with Travis and seeing her ask questions about the sport. Cruise confirmed Swift’s football knowledge, calling the newlyweds a beautiful couple.

Travis and Swift married in July during a wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Travis compared her dedication to football to her musical career, stating she engages deeply with the storytelling, rhythm, and visuals.

The Chiefs and Broncos game attended by Swift and Cruise marked the teams’ season opener. On the same day, the 2026 Emmys aired a pre-filmed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit skit featuring Swift alongside host Mariska Hargitay. In the sketch, Swift delivered cryptic lines that may hint at a follow-up to her 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl, which spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200.

“Saccharide. Aries. From the Vineyard. North or south,” Swift said in the sketch.

On a regular episode of New Heights, the Kelce brothers discussed Jason’s daughters—Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and Finn, whom he shares with Kylie Kelce—initially addressing Swift by her full name.

“When they got to meet Aunt Tay Tay, they were calling her ‘Taylor Swift,’” Travis said.
