MUBI has unveiled the official trailer for Rosebush Pruning, a sharp satirical thriller that premiered earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The film features an ensemble cast including Callum Turner, Jamie Bell, Elle Fanning, Pamela Anderson, Riley Keough, Lukas Gage, Tracy Letts, and Elena Anaya. Behind the camera is acclaimed Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz, following his recent work on Firebrand.
A contemporary reimagining of Marco Bellocchio’s 1965 masterpiece Fists in the Pocket, the story delves into the lives of an affluent yet deeply fractured family secluded in a Spanish villa. Their volatile household dynamic is thrown into chaos by the arrival of a newcomer—the girlfriend of one of the siblings.
Early critical response has been lukewarm, with the feature currently sitting at a 30% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Rosebush Pruning is slated for a theatrical rollout in the U.S. and select international territories this April.
