Disney has officially unveiled the first trailer for its live-action reimagining of “Moana.” The highly anticipated film is scheduled to make its international theatrical debut on July 10.
The production stars Catherine Laga‘aia (“The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart”) alongside Dwayne Johnson, who returns to his iconic role. The story follows a spirited young heroine as she embarks on a daring maritime quest to locate a legendary island hidden within the vast reaches of Polynesia.
Directed by Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”), the remake seeks to build on the massive success of the animated franchise. Since the original film’s debut in 2016 and its subsequent follow-up, the “Moana” series has become a global phenomenon, grossing a staggering $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office.
