“Toy Story 5” is gearing up for a record-breaking box office debut

The upcoming Pixar and Disney animated feature, Toy Story 5, is poised to become one of the most significant cinematic events of the year. Market analysts suggest the film is on track to achieve the highest opening weekend not only within the celebrated franchise but across all major releases of 2026. Industry projections estimate a North American debut between $150 million and $175 million.

Should these estimates hold true, Toy Story 5 will easily eclipse the $120 million opening achieved by its 2019 predecessor, securing its place among the most successful animated premieres in box office history.

The narrative of this fifth installment centers on the tension between classic playthings and modern technology. This time, Jessie takes center stage, striving to support Bonnie as she becomes increasingly enamored with a new electronic device named Lilypad. Iconic cast members Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack are reprising their roles, with directing duties handled by Andrew Stanton, the visionary behind WALL-E and Finding Nemo.
