Tom Cruise’s “Digger” receives mixed reactions following its premiere

The global premiere of “Digger,” a satirical tragicomedy helmed by Academy Award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu (“Birdman,” “The Revenant”), recently took place in London.

Following the screening, initial audience reactions began circulating online, even as the embargo on formal critic reviews remains in effect until September 29. While some viewers praised the film’s audacity, grand scale, and creative vision, others expressed confusion, labeling the movie as “convoluted,” “chaotic,” and “unpleasant.”

On a more positive note, the performances have garnered significant acclaim, particularly Tom Cruise’s turn, which some are calling “brilliant” and his finest work since “Magnolia.” The contributions of Riz Ahmed and John Goodman were also highlighted, with special recognition given to the production design team.

“Digger” follows the story of an oil tycoon whose industrial operations threaten to trigger global devastation, forcing him to embark on a transformative journey to rectify his actions. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 30, though box-office analysts are already projecting a sluggish start for the production.
