Three Men Charged in Fatal Shooting of Rising Latin Singer Delarosa in Los Angeles

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, prosecutors announced murder charges against three men in connection with the death of 22‑year‑old Maria De La Rosa. She was shot over the weekend while sitting in a parked car in Los Angeles.

De La Rosa — a Latin artist who performs as DELAROSA — was in the vehicle with two companions on Saturday morning in the Northridge neighborhood when three men approached, demanded money and opened fire, according to prosecutors. All three occupants were struck.

De La Rosa later died at a hospital, while the two others sustained life‑threatening injuries.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman characterized the incident as a calculated and heartless ambush that ended a young life and left lasting trauma for her family and the surviving victims, according to a county news release. Read the release.

Authorities arrested a 27‑year‑old the same day the charges were announced and another 27‑year‑old the following day. A warrant has been issued for a 21‑year‑old believed to be involved; attorneys for the first two arrestees could not be reached for comment.

All three suspects, who are from the Northridge area, face one felony count of murder and two felony counts of attempted second‑degree robbery.

DELAROSA, who has more than 40,000 followers on Instagram, released a single in August titled “No Me Llames” (“Don’t Call Me” in English). Under her most recent Instagram post, followers and peers — including Jimmy Humilde, a founder of Rancho Humilde — posted messages reacting to her death.

Her final Instagram caption hinted at upcoming music: “Ocupada cocinando en el Stu 🎶👩🏻‍🍳no me llames 🪄🪞🐩 Ya es tiempo… GAME TIME BABY,” which translates roughly to “Busy cooking in the studio… don’t call me. It’s about that time.”
