Three Major Xbox Games Cannot Be Converted to Digital Versions

Sega, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix are not currently participating in the Xbox Disc-to-Digital initiative, meaning Xbox cannot yet turn all disc-based games into digital licenses.

The Positron program, also known as Disc-to-Digital, allows players to replace a physical disc with a digital license and is receiving positive feedback from Xbox Insider testers. The system currently works with 174 games, and the list is gradually expanding to include titles such as 007 First Light, Alan Wake 2, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Xbox representative Jason Ronald previously stated that the majority of physical games for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One would be compatible with Positron.

Publisher support remains a challenge, as games from Sega, Square Enix, and some Bandai Namco projects do not work with the feature yet. Other publishers also have exceptions, with Wolfenstein: The New Order and A Way Out lacking support even though Electronic Arts’ Madden NFL 23 is already operational.

Microsoft will continue expanding the list of compatible games, and the mentioned publishers could join the program in the coming weeks.
