Third Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Project May Not Happen, Showrunner Outlines Conditions for a Sequel
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners may end with its second season. In an interview with ComicBook, showrunner Bartosz Sztybor said the anime’s future depends on whether the team can find a worthy story and the right people to bring it to life.
“You never know. There are still many stories to tell in Night City and beyond. But my approach, and I think the approach of CD Projekt RED as a whole, is that you always need the perfect story and the perfect director, artist, or studio to bring it to life. If the stars align and we can make something good again, then yes. But if there’s no perfect story or no director with a unique voice, maybe it will stop at two Edgerunners.”

Meanwhile, CD Projekt RED continues to expand the Cyberpunk universe. The studio is working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, previously known by the codename Orion. The project entered pre-production in 2025. The new game could give the anime’s creators more material for stories, though Sztybor is not yet willing to promise even a third season.
