Universal and Nintendo’s animated feature, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” has officially surged past the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

It stands as the first cinematic project of 2026 to achieve this milestone. Since its April debut, the film has raked in $428.5 million domestically in North America, complemented by an impressive $571.5 million from international markets.

The original installment, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” similarly crossed the billion-dollar threshold, ultimately grossing $1.36 billion in 2023. This sequel chronicles the latest perilous escapades of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad, featuring the returning vocal talents of Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, and others.
