Disney+ has officially announced the premiere date for an upcoming special featuring Jon Bernthal’s return as the titular antihero. Titled The Punisher: Last Kill, the project is scheduled to debut on the streaming platform on May 12.
In addition to starring, Bernthal also penned the screenplay for this installment. Direction is handled by Reinaldo Marcus Green, best known for the Oscar-nominated King Richard. While specific plot points remain under wraps, the production is confirmed to be a 60-minute special presentation.
Bernthal first brought Frank Castle to life in the Netflix original series (2017–2019), which followed the vigilante’s relentless quest for vengeance following the murder of his family. The character has since become a fixture of the street-level MCU, appearing in Daredevil and its upcoming revival, Born Again. Fans can also look forward to seeing the Punisher on the big screen later this year in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This release follows the successful precedent of 2022’s Werewolf by Night, a critically acclaimed special starring Gael García Bernal that expanded the boundaries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
