Mel Gibson’s seminal film, The Passion of the Christ, is set for a limited theatrical re-release in the United States, running from September 10th through September 17th.
The 2004 biblical drama will be presented in a remastered 4K edition, enhanced with Dolby Atmos sound. Ticket sales are scheduled to commence on July 24th. Following the screenings, audiences will be treated to exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection – Part I, the highly anticipated sequel that Gibson has envisioned as a two-part epic. The first installment is slated for release on May 6, 2027, with the second following on May 25, 2028.
The original film became a massive cultural phenomenon in the early 2000s, defying expectations to gross over $600 million globally, despite its harrowing and visceral portrayal of the crucifixion.
