The Academy Awards are preparing for a significant relocation, as the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles has been officially designated as the event’s new home starting in 2029.
Renowned for hosting the Emmy Awards in recent years, the Peacock Theater will succeed the Dolby Theatre, which has been the fixture of the Oscars since 2002. In a landmark shift for the industry, the 101st ceremony is also set to break tradition by streaming exclusively on YouTube, departing from its long-standing history on linear television.
The most recent iteration of the awards saw a sweeping victory for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Battle for Battle, which claimed six statuettes, including the coveted Best Picture award. Meanwhile, the Best Animated Short category highlighted international talent with a nomination for Konstantin Bronzit’s Three Sisters.
