“The Odyssey” Sets Box Office Record of the Year in the US

Christopher Nolan’s epic, “The Odyssey,” has shattered records, pulling in $17.6 million during its US preview screenings. This impressive debut currently stands as the highest preview figure of the year, narrowly surpassing Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” which previously held the top spot with $17.5 million.

“The Odyssey” also outperformed the preview earnings of Nolan’s previous blockbuster, the biographical drama “Oppenheimer,” which brought in $10.5 million. Industry analysts project a strong global opening, forecasting that the film will gross at least $200 million over its debut weekend.

With a production budget of $250 million and an additional $125 million invested by Universal into its marketing campaign, the studio has high stakes in this release. The star-studded cast features Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and several other notable actors.
