The next Kingdom Come game is arriving sooner than you think

Warhorse Studios, the creative force behind the acclaimed Kingdom Come franchise, has provided clarity regarding their recent announcement of a “new Kingdom Come adventure.” Fans can look forward to another immersive open-world RPG, currently slated for release within the Embracer Group’s upcoming fiscal year.

Confusion initially rippled through the community following a May 21 reveal, in which the studio teased both a new Kingdom Come title and a separate Middle-earth open-world RPG. The ambiguous phrasing regarding the former led some to worry that the next installment might stray from the franchise’s signature RPG roots.

To address these concerns, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Communications Director at Warhorse, clarified the project’s direction during a recent livestream. He confirmed that the new title is firmly rooted in the open-world RPG genre and is being spearheaded by Prokop Jirsa, the lead designer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the studio anticipates a release during the next fiscal cycle.

In essence, the upcoming entry will maintain the series’ established structure, with a launch window currently targeted between April 1, 2027, and March 31, 2028. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that this turnaround time is significantly more streamlined than the lengthy seven-year interval between the original game and its successor.

Specific details remain under wraps for the time being. However, the industry is keeping a close watch on the studio following the March announcement of layoffs affecting their Czech-to-English translation and editorial team—a move widely interpreted as a pivot toward AI-driven localization. This upcoming installment will serve as the first real-world test of how that transition impacts the final English localization quality.

For those eager to dive into the series while awaiting future developments, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is currently available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. At this time, no release window has been provided for the studio’s Middle-earth project.
