The most expensive film in history has been named
Fortune has unveiled data identifying the most expensive film in Hollywood history.
That title officially belongs to the blockbuster Jurassic World Dominion. According to industry insiders, Universal Pictures poured a staggering $658 million into its production. After factoring in tax rebates✱ from the UK government—where the film was primarily shot—the net budget settled at $531 million.
Other high-budget heavyweights on the list include Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($447 million), the original Avatar ($425 million), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($379 million), and Avengers: Endgame ($356 million).
Dominion premiered in 2022 and successfully surpassed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The film features Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, alongside the original Jurassic Park trio: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. The project was directed by Colin Trevorrow.
