Warner Bros. and Fathom Events have announced that Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy will return to cinemas in 2026 in its Extended Edition form for a special two‑weekend engagement. Select screenings will include experiential formats such as D‑Box motion seating and 4DX, promising an immersive, tactile way to experience scenes like the sweeping climax of Return of the King.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring’s original theatrical run, the trilogy is scheduled to play January 16–18 and January 23–25, 2026. D‑Box Extended Edition presentations are planned for the opening weekend only. Tickets are currently available through Fathom Events, which will present the three films across separate days rather than as a single marathon — so you won’t be seated for an uninterrupted 11‑hour showing in one stretch unless you choose to recreate that at home.

The rerelease is accompanied by new tie‑in merchandise and limited‑edition concession items. Participating AMC locations will offer a collectible map tin that includes a quest magnet set, while Regal and select independent theaters will carry a 130oz “One Ring”‑themed concession vessel for the trilogy screenings.
