The Last of Us Actor Urges Not to “Demonize” AI

Renowned voice actor Troy Baker recently shared his perspective on the transformative role of artificial intelligence within the gaming landscape.

In a conversation with The Game Business, Baker suggested that AI should not be “disparaged, belittled, or demonized,” but rather integrated into the creative process. He emphasized that the ultimate agency remains in the hands of the individuals—both the performers and the producers.

The actor further elaborated on the distinction between production and creation:

There is no doubt that AI can generate content more efficiently than a human, yet it cannot produce art, as true artistry fundamentally requires the depth of human experience.

Baker noted that the proliferation of AI is actually heightening the public’s desire for authentic, visceral experiences:

I want to go out and witness a live vocal performance. I want to experience the theater. I want to immerse myself in books. I am seeking firsthand encounters rather than consuming reality through a ‘black mirror.’ This yearning for connection is the true revolution.
