GTA VI Will Be an Uncompromising Game, Developer Says
Players can expect an immense amount of content.
The development of Grand Theft Auto VI spanned many years, and much has changed in the world during that time. Some players worried that Rockstar Games would look to modern trends and potentially soften certain elements or abandon ideas that might be considered inappropriate today.
EDGE magazine prepared an extensive feature on Grand Theft Auto VI. The journalists interviewed the developers, and during the discussion, development co-head Rob Nelson shared his thoughts on the work completed.
Following Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, Nelson explains, Rockstar could not simply release what players might expect from the studio or take the easiest path.
We made no compromises in scale, detail, interactivity, story, or open world. It feels to me as though we built a pyramid on Everest.
When creating the game world, the developers dedicated a great deal of time to filling it, and players can expect an immense amount of content. The world is so vast that even the developers, who have long been involved in the project, are discovering new things for themselves.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
