“The Hunger Games” to be re-released in theaters

Lionsgate is set to bring all five installments of The Hunger Games franchise back to the big screen across the United States, according to recent reports.

The screenings, scheduled to run from September 3 through September 7, serve as a lead-up to the release of the upcoming prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. The film will delve into the story of a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) as he competes in the 50th Hunger Games, famously known as the Second Quarter Quell. The film is slated for release on November 19 of this year.

The Hunger Games series is adapted from Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy. Set in the dystopian nation of Panem, the story follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who volunteers for the annual survival competition and eventually evolves into the face of a rebellion against the nation’s tyrannical leader, President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

The franchise features an ensemble cast including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson, among others. Collectively, the five films—including the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes—have garnered a staggering $3.3 billion at the global box office.
