“The Game Changed My Life”: Actor Who Plays Jan Ptacek Says He Owes Much to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Working on KCD 2 has transformed the lives of several people involved in the project.

A major part of the buzz around Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 comes from its characters and the chemistry between them. Recently, the actor who plays Jan Ptaček spoke with Czech outlet CzechCrunch about how working on the game affected him.

According to Luke Dale, the game has changed his life. His work on Kingdom Come allowed him to become a streamer rather than “just an actor.”

Before the release of the first KCD he had only a few minor roles, but now, with the sequel out, he’s become a star — amassing tens of thousands of social-media followers, being recognized in public, approached for photos (and, he says, some admirers even ask to be lifted into his arms).

The actor shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote about filming a scene in which he had to portray an intoxicated character:

One of the toughest moments to film was the bathhouse scene where we sit with Indrzhih. I had to play a drunk Ptaček, but I kept wondering, “will anyone really believe this?” I remember Daniel Vávra telling me, “Be drunker. You’re not drunk enough. You’ve had a lot of wine — it’s four in the morning.” So I pushed myself harder and harder until the performance became absurdly exaggerated.
