The Elden Ring movie receives first official update with major cast reveal

A24 has officially confirmed that Alex Garland’s highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of Elden Ring is slated for a March 3, 2028, premiere. The ensemble cast will be anchored by Heartstopper breakout star Kit Connor, alongside a distinguished roster featuring Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, and Tom Burke.

The production also boasts a formidable supporting cast, including Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, and Peter Serafinowicz.

Based on the acclaimed dark fantasy epic from FromSoftware, the film has secured “Filmed for IMAX” certification. While the production will utilize digital capture rather than traditional IMAX film cameras, the project is being meticulously optimized for the large-format experience.

The announcement validates long-standing industry speculation fueled by recent set construction sightings across the U.K. A24 has confirmed that principal photography is scheduled to commence this spring.

The project serves as a reunion for several of Garland’s frequent collaborators. Connor starred in Garland’s Warfare, while Spaeny previously headlined the series Devs and appeared alongside Offerman in the dystopian drama Civil War.
