The Division’s Free-to-Play Spinoff Set for Imminent Launch
After a period of quiet following its initial postponement, Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence has returned to the spotlight with a definitive launch date. During a special 10th-anniversary broadcast for the franchise, Ubisoft confirmed that the mobile title will officially arrive on Android and iOS devices on March 31. Players looking for a head start can pre-register now to unlock exclusive gold weapon skins at launch.
Originally unveiled in 2022, The Division Resurgence serves as a free-to-play mobile iteration of Ubisoft’s tactical loot-shooter series—a franchise often credited with helping define the now-thriving extraction shooter genre. While the game was pushed back in 2024, it is important to distinguish it from The Division Heartland, a separate free-to-play project that was ultimately canceled that same year. Following several closed technical sessions held in late 2025, the game is finally approaching its full debut.
The latest trailer sets the stage for the narrative: players step into the boots of an agent who awakens from a month-long coma in a destabilized Manhattan, shortly after the events of the first game. The footage reveals gameplay that remains faithful to the mainline entries, featuring third-person tactical combat within a haunting, pandemic-stricken vision of New York City.
Beyond the mobile news, Ubisoft shared updates regarding The Division 2, teasing upcoming DLC that will take agents into the overgrown wilds of Central Park. The developers also announced plans for playtests of “Survivors,” a dedicated extraction-style mode, scheduled for later this year. In the interim, the 10th-anniversary festivities for The Division 2 will run through March 24, offering a high-stakes “Realism” mode with lethal weapon damage and providing free access to the Warlords of New York expansion for all players.
