Casting for the highly anticipated X-Files reboot is gaining momentum, with Himesh Patel (Yesterday, Tenet) officially joining the ensemble alongside the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler, according to reports from Variety.
While narrative specifics remain strictly under wraps, the project boasts a heavy-hitting creative team. Academy Award winner Ryan Coogler (Sinners, Black Panther) is set to write, produce, and direct the pilot episode, with Jennifer Yale (Legion) serving as showrunner. The series is destined for FX and Hulu, though an official premiere date has yet to be determined.
Gillian Anderson, the icon of the original series, has expressed her enthusiasm for the reimagining. However, despite her support for the project, neither she nor her longtime co-star David Duchovny are currently officially attached to the production.
This project marks a reunion for Patel and Deadwyler, who both appeared in the acclaimed miniseries Station Eleven. Additionally, Patel is scheduled to re-team with visionary director Christopher Nolan for The Odyssey later this summer.
