Tenet star to act in new horror movie

John David Washington, known for his roles in Tenet and BlacKkKlansman, has been tapped to star in the upcoming horror feature Mime, produced by Sony’s Screen Gems. The casting news was first reported by Deadline.

Set against the backdrop of a sweltering heatwave in New York City, the film’s specific plot details remain under wraps. The project will be helmed by director Nikyatu Jusu, acclaimed for her 2022 psychological horror film Nanny, with a screenplay penned by Steven Herman, who previously wrote Black Box.

In addition to his starring role, Washington is also serving as a producer on the project. He was most recently seen on screen in the 2024 drama The Piano Lesson, which premiered on Netflix.
