Tempest Rising Introduces Superweapon and Begins Testing Third Faction
The developers have rolled out fresh content — and there’s much more on the horizon.
The team behind the real-time strategy Tempest Rising has released an update that introduces new features. The patch adds a superweapon — a strike-drone station for the Global Defense Forces — along with an excavation platform for the Tempest Dynasty.
In addition, the developers have started playtesting a third playable faction for Tempest Rising: the Veti.
Beta participants can field the Veti in multiplayer. The available content includes:
- 9 buildings
- 7 vehicle types
- 6 infantry units and 5 aerial units
- 5 defensive structures, 5 specialists, and 1 superweapon
The developers described the Veti’s core mechanics — the faction can subjugate enemy infantry. Weakened foes, upon death, are reanimated as the “Enlightened,” who serve the Veti. These units can be used as “sacred sacrifices” to consecrate Veti forces, granting those troops new abilities.
You can opt into the Tempest Rising beta through the game’s Properties on Steam, under the Betas tab.
