Taylor Swift’s 2017 Handwritten Letter Saying She’s ‘Always Cheering’ for Liam Payne Is Now Up for Auction

An intimate, handwritten note Taylor Swift sent to Liam Payne in December 2017 will be offered at auction this winter. Omega Auctions announced on Nov. 12, 2025 that the card — signed by Swift and accompanied by its original envelope and a bespoke “T” wax seal — will appear in the house’s upcoming Music Memorabilia sale with an estimate of £5,000–£10,000. Bidding opens Dec. 2, 2025 on the auctioneer’s website.

According to Omega, the piece was acquired from a close associate of Payne’s; Payne reportedly gave the card to that friend soon after receiving it from Swift. The lot includes the note itself and the matching envelope with the wax impression.

In the handwritten message Swift greets Payne warmly and offers encouragement for his solo work, singling out his single “Bedroom Floor” with praise and wishing him luck for the evening’s performance. Billboard has contacted Swift’s representatives for comment.

The auction listing and images are available on Omega Auctions’ site. Viewers can expect interest from collectors of contemporary pop memorabilia, given the note’s provenance and Swift’s global profile.

This sale follows the tragic death of Liam Payne in October 2024. Payne, 31, died after a fall from the fourth-floor balcony of his hotel room in Argentina.

Although Swift and Payne were never publicly known as close pals, their professional and social circles have overlapped: Swift briefly dated Harry Styles around 2012, and she collaborated with One Direction alum Zayn Malik on the Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (2016). At the 2017 Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball, Swift performed the song shortly after Payne took the stage.
