‘Kingsman’ star Taron Egerton has joined the cast of Kockroach (The Cockroach), stepping into the lead role formerly linked to Oscar Isaac, Deadline reports.
Isaac left the project because of scheduling conflicts. The film also stars Channing Tatum and Zazie Beetz, with Matt Ross (‘Captain Fantastic’) attached as director.
The crime thriller is set in New York and follows a mysterious outsider who ascends to become the head of a crime syndicate.
It is adapted from the novel of the same name by William Lashner. Producers point to ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘Scarface’ as stylistic touchstones. Filming is slated to begin in February in Australia.
This week, ‘Baby Driver’, featuring Egerton, opened in Russian cinemas. The British actor also recently led the Apple TV series ‘Smoke’.
