The survival game Permafrost from small Polish studio SpaceRocket Games has attracted more than 8,200 concurrent players on Steam.

Developed by Polish indie studio SpaceRocket Games on the Unreal Engine, Permafrost is set in a frozen future world. The creators showcase a large-scale universe and a multi-layered story that expands beyond the game itself. The publisher is also known for Medieval Dynasty and Sengoku Dynasty. The concurrent player count reached 8,216 people.

Players take on the role of an engineer named Grach who travels across a frozen near-future world where eternal winter set in after the destruction of the Moon. He searches for a lost friend who sent out a radio signal. Cold is the main enemy here, bringing storms, frostbite, and freezing temperatures, while preparation, shelter, and time management help players survive. Users must explore an open world featuring city ruins and faction territories, hunt, gather resources, craft items, build a network of shelters, and repair abandoned machinery. Grach is accompanied by a loyal dog that scouts the path, warns of danger, and carries supplies. Players can venture alone or in co-op for up to four people.

The launch of Permafrost proved difficult, as initial reviews were predominantly negative, which could have limited the game’s reach. The rating now stands at 71% based on more than 850 reviews.
