Nintendo Will Keep Physical Copies Unlike PlayStation
Nintendo will continue releasing physical game editions alongside digital versions, guided by what buyers prefer.
Nintendo does not plan to abandon physical game editions and will keep releasing them alongside digital versions while considering consumer preferences.
Bill van Zyll, Nintendo Vice President and General Manager in Latin America, announced this in an interview.
Historically, we’ve always maintained a neutral stance, right? We focus on consumer preferences and pay a tremendous amount of attention to that. Additionally, we have a platform that launched quite recently. It has been a little over a year since the NS2 launched. It supports both digital and physical formats. We have no plans to abandon physical media. We know how much fans love them, so our stance has always been to remain neutral.
Two types of physical editions are available on Nintendo Switch 2: full cartridges and key cards that contain only data for downloading the game. The latter are not very popular among collectors.
Most games published by Nintendo itself still release on full cartridges.
