Supergirl fails to meet box office expectations

The latest DC Studios entry, “Supergirl,” has had a lackluster debut at the North American box office. Early projections indicate the film will rake in approximately $38 million during its opening weekend, landing it in second place rather than the top spot.

“Toy Story 5” continues its dominant run, securing the lead for the second consecutive week. Pixar’s animated feature is expected to pull in another $70 million, maintaining its strong momentum following a record-breaking premiere last week.

For “Supergirl,” these figures are a significant disappointment. While analysts initially anticipated an opening of around $50 million, expectations steadily waned as the release date approached. The lackluster interest may be attributed to tepid critical reception, with the film holding a modest 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of its release.
