“Supergirl” compared to “Mad Max” following early screenings

Initial reactions to the upcoming DC Studios comic book adaptation, Supergirl, have begun to emerge online.

  • Early viewers have lauded the film as “thoroughly engaging” and packed with “action and humor,” describing it as the perfect companion piece to last year’s Superman.

  • Journalist Mike Ryan drew a striking parallel between Supergirl and George Miller’s Mad Max, noting that both films share a similar DNA characterized by “gritty worlds, despicable villains, and self-destructive protagonists.”

  • Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) earned significant praise for her compelling performance in the lead role.

Supergirl focuses on the story of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. The supporting cast features Jason Momoa and Matthias Schoenaerts, with direction by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and production led by DC Studios head James Gunn.

The blockbuster is set to premiere in theaters on June 28.
