Street Fighter adaptation director hints filming has wrapped

It appears production on the new film adaptation of Capcom’s fighting franchise has wrapped.

According to a recent post from director Kitao Sakurai, principal photography for the new Street Fighter movie has concluded. He shared a photo on social media of a clapperboard featuring character artwork, which many took as a hint that filming is finished.

There is no official confirmation yet, but several cast members have already posted about their wrap day — their final day on set. If these reports are accurate, the crew completed shooting in a remarkably short span: production began just over two months ago.

The story transports viewers to 1993. According to the official synopsis, Ryu and Ken — at the urging of the enigmatic Chun-Li — return to the World Warrior tournament. Beneath the competition lurks a sinister plot that forces the heroes to face not only one another but their own inner demons.

The global premiere of Street Fighter is scheduled for October 16, 2026.
